Free Rider 2 Rev C

PostPosted by Maxime » Fri Feb 27, 2009 12:19 am

Here it is!!!
I've deeply edited Free Rider 2 to add a checkpoint power-up!
This modified version called "Free Rider 2 Rev C" can be accessed HERE (and from every track on the DB).

Image

As you can see, there are two new tools in the left panel:
- The checkpoint power-up
- The restart + reset checkpoint button

The checkpoint power-up is exactly like any other power-up, just place it wherever you want.

Then when you play, if the rider touches a checkpoint power-up and dies:
- He will respawn at the checkpoint place!!!
- The stars you collected before the checkpoint will remain collected. *
- The time elapsed before the checkpoint will remain elapsed. *

If you click on the restart + reset checkpoint button (or change vehicle), checkpoints, stars and time will be reset.

Enjoy ^^

*: That's only when you play a track from the DB; the Free Rider 2 Rev C version used for building doesn't feature the stars and time save.

PS: If you edit some of your old tracks to add checkpoints, PM me the code so that I can edit them ;)

UPDATE!

BUILD & PLAY VERSIONS:
- Checkpoints now save gravity too
- Enter + Shift = Restart + Reset checkpoints

BUILD VERSION ONLY:
- Press X to place a checkpoint while riding (for those who liked the previous checkpoint version)

Well it's kinda normal... Just reset the checkpoints if it bothers you.

I could automatically reset checkpoints when you delete one of them but I'm not sure it's a good idea.

That's only when you build the map, not when you play it from the DB. I already said it:
I wrote:the Free Rider 2 Rev C version used for building doesn't feature the stars and time save

The reason for that is if you erase or draw more stars after a passing a checkpoint, the respawn cannot handle the new or deleted stars. Logic.

Oh, thank you, Maxime. That's why it was glitched when I was trying to build a track.

Well, people have a right to say what they think about checkpoints...
personally, i am happy, because a track i am building is getting kinda long, so checkpoints are VERY helpful.

Rev stands for Revision; Free Rider 2 Revision C.
The C stands for Checkpoint but also for 3rd (this is my 3rd edit for checkpoints).
